The boy with the concave chest

The boy with the concave chest
Wanted the world to know he loved me
He recycled poems and made gestures
So over the top, you could see them from the moon
He put words into my mouth
And pulled them back out like a string of pearls clicking against teeth

The boy with the concave chest kept me up all night
Just so he could say that he did
He shoved notes under my door,  demanding to be seen
But he refused to read anything himself
He could not understand why I sighed and said
“There are holes that can never be filled”
